Point of Divergence
After World War II ended, an arms race continued among the now nuclear powers. Tensions grew Especially between the USA and the USSR. The Berlin Wall was constructed, separating East Germany from West Germany. The US and USSR backed different sides in Vietnam and Korea. Conflict seemed probable.
Cuban Missile Crisis Leads to World War
After the Cuban revolution, Russia had an ally in Cuba that was extremely close to the United States. Cuba had been invaded by the USA in the Bay of Pigs Invasion, and Russia thought that this could be their excuse to go to war with the USA. The USSR made a secret agreement with Cuba, in which Cuba would hold Russia's missiles (some of which were nukes) and Russia would protect them when war came. Russia also would give Cuba Nuclear Weapons at the end of the war when they were successful. In Mid October, Kennedy finds out about these missiles. However, Russia senses that the US knows about the missiles, and jumps the gun. The Soviets invade West Germany, breaking the Berlin Wall. The US, stunned, decide to stay out of the conflict because they know that Russia has the ability to Nuke Florida. But Europe ends up tangled in the war in Germany, and soon War breaks out in Korea, Southern Asia, Southern Europe, and Vietnam. Russia seems to be taking the lead, so the United States has no choice but to start the dreaded nuclear war. They order a nuke that is stationed in Turkey to go across the black sea to bomb Soviet city Odessa (Modern Ukraine). The USA cleverly has evacuated many from Florida, and has military prepared to invade Cuba.
