The Great War,(World War I) was a very catastrophic four year event that killed more than 33 million people. The sides came to the Allied Powers and the Central Powers. In OTL, the Allies won, but in this, the Central Powers won. This war was a very modern war with airplanes, tanks, machine guns, and chemical gas weapons. Each side had heavy losses, as more than one million solders died at the Battle of Somme. Most people wished this would be the war to end all wars, but they were mistaken.

Before The World War

Before the war, Europe was in a large alliance system. Austria-Hungary and Germany first made a Dual Alliance to intimidate Europe. The Netherlands joined this in 1905, and Bulgaria joined this in 1906. France and Russia created their Dual Alliance. Brittain remained out, but felt lonely so it created its own Dual Alliance with Japan. This really sparked when all these countries participated in the arms race. Brittain achieved 20000, Germany achieved 20000, France achieved 18000, Russia achieved 24000, Austria-Hungary achieved 18000, Bulgaria achieved 8000, and the Netherlands achieved 8000. Then, Germany, The Netherlands and, Brittain competed in their naval race. The British won by a narrow victory. Even so, the Germans and the Dutch still could beat the British by naval force. With all this army stuff, many engineers thought the army should use an air force. And so, the countries of Europe were able to imply new equipment to the armed forces: the airplane, the tank, machine guns, and chemical gas weapons. There so, the armies became fully trained and ready to fight. Nationalism also played a key role. Everything was good, until Yugoslav nationalists assassinated Archduke Franz Ferdinand. Therefor, World War I begun.

Beginning Stage

After the event, the Austro-Hungarian empire declared war on Serbia. Russia came in to aid Serbia, so Germany attacked Russia. Knowing France would attack Germany next, It came and struck fast, by invading via Belgium and Luxembourg and because of this, Great Brittain went in to stop the Germans, witch caused the Netherlands to attack Brittain because of its fears they would be next. A massive war had begun, witch would be known as World War I. With feelings of nationalism, millions of people on both sides rushed to join the army and, the air force. Many people in Brittain, the Netherlands and, Germany also chose to join the navy. With many modern weapons, this war was a very tech war. Germany advanced on Paris, but were stopped by the French, and both sides dug themselves into trenches, witch became known as the Western Front. On the Eastern Front, the Russians invaded Austria-Hungary, but were stopped in Eastern Prussia by the Germans. The Dutch, quickly moved into Belgium and Luxembourg.

More War Partners

The Ottoman Empire, soon joined the war on the Central side in October, 1914. More and more nations joined the war, as the war spread across the globe. Nations, such as Bulgaria, joined with the Central Powers, while nations, such as Italy, Greece and, Portugal joined with the Allies. Germany's push was against Russia was stronger, as it was able to capture Vilnius, Riga, and finally, Tallinn, causing the Baltics to fall under German hands. Russia, having pushed into Austria, has now been pushed back, causing Belarus and, Ukraine to fall under Austria. On the Western Front, France kept a strong defense, but German planes crashed and bombed French forces. German troops seemed to push deep and deeper into France. Bulgaria attacked Serbia, causing an abrupt to Serbia, as Bulgarian and Austrian troops captured Belgrade, causing Serbia to surrender. Montenegro surrendered immediately. Turkey, having trouble island fighting Greece, was finally able to capture Athens by the end of 1915. The only allies left were Britain, France, and Russia.

1916-Early 1918

It all started with a push towards Paris, by Germans. As the Germans captured the entire eastern portion of France, Britain and Russia realized they would not be able to stop this push. The ottomans attacked British-held Egypt. Egypt fell in a month, along with Libya. The Ottomans also fought off the Persians, Arabians, and the Algerians. Bulgarian and Austrian planes crashed and bombed ruthlessly in Russian territory. The Russians had a complete meltdown, as German and Austrians pushed more forward into Russia. Important cities, such as Tysardom and, Kiev, fell to Central rule. Germans soon unleash their chlorine gas, at Somme. Thousands of men die,(80,000 troops)on the first day. Germans stretched their army, causing the French to be surrounded. More and more gas was unleashed, causing the Somme to be a bloody battlefield. British tanks went to help, but it was useless. German planes dropped countless numbers of bombs, causing the French to fall. The battle of the Somme was a great German victory, but lots of Germans died as well. Now, what laid ahead, was Paris. At the city, the Germans sieges the city, while planes dropped countless bombs. Buildings crumbled. Thousands of people died. Solders quickly capture the city, causing France to utterly surrender.

Paris after the bombing

In 1917, German troops attacked Russia once again. After a while, Russia withdrew from the war. Britain and the new USA volunteers was what was left of the Allied Powers. Germany attacked and burned London. As British troops were pushed from Europe, and a years of fighting, Britain surrenders. On November 11th, 1918, the war ended. The Central powers sort out the treaty. At Versailles, they discuss about France and Britain. By 1920, Europe had been changed a lot, turning into the Central Powers favor. Germany annexed most of eastern France, and the Baltics. Austria-Hungary annexed the north part of Italy, the north part of Serbia, and Montenegro. The Ottoman Empire gained Egypt. Bulgaria gained the northern part of Greece, parts of Romania, and the rest of Serbia. Ireland, was made a new country but it also annexed Scotland. Great Brittain was renamed England. The Netherlands, annexed Belgium, and Luxembourg. In Africa, Somalialand was given to Bulgaria, Cape Colony was giving to Holland, Algeria, Morocco and, Tunisia was giving to Austria, and the rest was given to Germany. Only India was left of England's colonies. Even though their were enemies, the Central Powers freed all volunteers and British troops, as they were ''unnecessary''. The war to end all wars, was now truly the war to end all wars, as everyone were tired, and never went to war, again.
