World War II, also known as the Second World War and frequently abbrevriated as WWII, was global-scale military conflict that involved almost all of the world's nations compiled into two opposing alliances: the Axis Powers led by Germany, Italy, Austria-Hungary, and the CSA, and the Entente Powers, commandeered by Britain, the USA, France, and Russia
The war lasted from June 23, 1937 to May 9, 1946, although the War in America would continue until July of 1946. The War started with the German Invasion of Poland and the subsequent activation of world militaries and allies joining together.
Britain, France, and Russia all declared war on Germany for attacking Poland. Austria-Hungary stepped up to the plate to defend Germany, while Italy joined its two allies against the Entente.
The War in America started three days later when President Cordell Hull of the CSA order the military to mobilize and declared war on the USA, part of the Quadruple Entente. Starting with the Confederate Invasion of Ohio, World War II officially spread to North America.
The Brazilian and Patagonian Empires both declared their support for their respective allies Germany and Italy, while Peru and Gran Colombia, honor bound to the French and British, joined the Entente side in the War.
The Axis were making major advances in Europe and Africa, but the Confederacy and the Union remain in a deadlock stalemate for most of the war until the US Army under General George S. Patton managed to secure Texas in 1941. However, Patton would be placed in Africa in 1943 after Axis forces crushed the Entente in Algiers.
The war ended after an exchange of nuclear superbombs: the US detonated a small one in Key West, Florida, and Russia detonated one in Hamburg, Germany.
Germany immediately surrendered, followed by Austria-Hungary. The Entente had swept Italy in 1945. It would be, however, two more months until the CSA fell to the Union.
By the war's end, two nations emerged as the most powerful: America and Russia. Both were armed with nuclear bombs and contest each other to the present day.
