The World Test Championship was a cricket competition that was held in England in 1912 and 1922. It was contested by Australia, England and South Africa with New Zealand (1912 and 1922) and Argentina (1922) being guest teams.

1912

The first test championship was held in England with four teams competing. The teams that played in the first championship being Australia, England, South Africa and guest team New Zealand. But for New Zealand they had a tough time, losing all three of their matches by close to an innings. But on the top of the leaderboard was England as they won all three of their matches to end up on top of the table with Australia and South Africa tying for second place after drawing their match in Old Trafford.

1922

The second edition of the test championship stayed in England with Argentina joining the four teams that played in 1912. For the debuts, they struggled as they only drew one match against New Zealand who came into test cricket officially in 1919. Australia would come out on top after drawing with England at Lords. For the defending champions, England came in third place after losing to South Africa in Manchester.

1932

1932 was the season for firsts. For starters, there was eights teams that joined with four of them (Egypt, India, West Indies and Rhodesia) competing for the first time. It was also the first time that it was held in another country other than England with Australia hosting the competition over a two month period in the early part of the year. The four finalists was the main four teams with England taking the win after defeating Australia in the final at the MCG.

1942

The 1942 edition was meant to be held in Australia once again, but when the Second World War started in 1939, any hope of holding the championship was put on hold as travel to countries had been restricted. This was the first (and to date only) championship to be cancelled.
