William Harris Crawford (February 24, 1772 - September 18, 1823) was the 5th President of the United States, serving a single term from 1817 to 1821, and was the US Secretary of War from 1813 until 1816, presiding over the victorious execution of the Canadian War. Despite serving only one term, Crawford is celebrated as the father of the modern Nationalist Party and for building the Transatlantic Alliance that would last over half a century.
