The War of San Francisco was a conflict involving several countries that followed the wars of independence of the countries from Portuguese America. It was due to the uncertainties regarding the countries' frontiers, especially in relation to the hinterland area known as San Francisco Region (in Portuguese, "Comarca do São Francisco"). The war lasted for several years, and the diplomatic conflicts were solved only by the intermediation of the President of the United States, Martin Van Buren.
