World War III
During the Third World War in the Battle of the Atlantic, Soviet submarines attacked Naval Base Norfolk which was the headquarters of United States Fleet Forces Command. Several ships were lost. Nonetheless, U.S. naval forces backed by the U.S. Air Force and the Virginia Air National Guard counterattacked and promptly sunk the harassing forces. One of the reasons it was attacked is because the base was also one of the staging areas for REFORGER convoys to Europe.
The 21st CenturyDuring the September 11th Attacks, the CIA headquarters in Langley was targeted by the World Revolution Army, a communist terrorist organization that rose from the ashes of the once mighty Soviet Union.
