World War III Edit
During the Third World War in the Battle of the Atlantic, Soviet submarines attacked Naval Base Norfolk which was the headquarters of United States Fleet Forces Command. Several ships were lost. Nonetheless, U.S. naval forces backed by the U.S. Air Force and the Virginia Air National Guard counterattacked and promptly sunk the harassing forces. One of the reasons it was attacked is because the base was also one of the staging areas for REFORGER convoys to Europe.
During the Soviet invasion of Alaska and Washington State, President George H.W. Bush was airlifted to Mount Weather, an emergency command post located in Bluemont near the Clarke-Loudoun Counties in the northwest of the state.
The 21st Century EditDuring the September 11th Attacks, the CIA headquarters in Langley was targeted by the World Revolution Army, a communist terrorist organization that rose from the ashes of the once mighty Soviet Union. Notably, the Pentagon in Arlington was also targeted by the WRA but was intercepted on time by Arlington Police and the Virginia National Guard.
