Veremund I was King of Spain from 829 to 848. The son and successor of Athafuns I, he came to the throne at a young age when his father was killed in a hunting accident.

Veremund continued to strengthen Spain by investing in infrastructure and establishing diplomatic relations with his neighbours. He allied with Africa against the Franks and worked to undermine their support in their conquered realms. By the 840s he had grown wealthy enough to be able to afford to sponsor a revolt in Frankish Aquitaine, which rejoined his realm after a brief war.

Veremund died in 648 and was succeeded by his son, Ramiro I .
