Venezuela is a country located in South America. After earning its independence after a war with Spain, Venezuela suffered from internal strife, resulting in civil wars and large debts to European nations. This resulted in Germany blockading Venezuela in 1902 and soon funding a German-backed faction to power in Venezuela's government. Venezuela was dragged into World War I by Germany, yet it managed to come up on top. Thanks to its vast oil reserves, Venezuela manged to ride out the Great Depression and remained a stronghold of democracy during the Brazilian Civil War of the 1940s. Since its victory in the Argentine War in the 1980s, Venezuela is a regional power, and the founder of the Third Bloc.
