Pre-2DS Version[]
- June 6, 2011 - Game Boy 3DS is announced
- March 3, 2012 - Game Boy 3DS is launched at $200 with Mario Kart 3D, Kid Icarus: Uprising, and Resident Evil: Revelations
- June 11, 2013 - Game Boy 3DS XL is announced
- July 12, 2013 - Game Boy 3DS XL is released alongside Mario & Luigi: Dream Team at $200, original model is reduced to $170
Conservative Addition[]
- E3 2014 - Game Boy 2DS is announced
- Q3/Q4 2014 - Game Boy 2DS is released, price cuts possible.

- June 6, 2011 - Game Boy 3DS and 3DS XL are both announced

- December 1, 2011 - Japanese release of Game Boy 3DS
- Q1 2012 - Titles such as Kid Icarus: Uprising and Resident Evil: Revelations are released.
- October 2012 - The Game Boy 3DS XL is announced, to be released the following month.
- November 2012 - Game Boy 3DS XL is released worldwide, often bundled with games such as Animal Crossing: New Leaf and Assassin's Creed: Liberation.
- August 28, 2013 - Game Boy 2DS is announced for a simultaneous release with Pokemon X/Y.
