The 2012 United States presidential election was the 57th quadrennial American presidential election. It was held on Tuesday, November 6, 2012. The Republican nominee, President Ron Paul, and his running mate, Vice President Pat Buchanan, were elected to a second term. They defeated the Democratic ticket of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton of New York and former Chair of the Democratic National Committee Tim Kaine.
