The United States of America is a North American nation situated on the East Coast. Its economy and business power is among the highest in the world. It has often been referred to as "America's Switzerland". Despite this, they have made some small growth since the founding in 1776, but they were mainly for business (acquisition of New Orleans from Napoleon for example). They have rarely gotten directly involved in wars. They often financially support other nations when it is in their best interest, however.
The Democratic-Republican party which has been around since the creation of the nation and has been dominating politics ever since the collapse of the Whig Party in the 1980s. Its only real opposition has historically been the Socialist Party, founded by Eugene V Debs in the early 1900s. The Democratic-Republicans tended to have lopsided two to one victories over the Socialists. The last election was the The 2008 elections
Problems have begun to show themselves in the American Political system. First the right wing radical Constitution Party was formed in South Carolina. It spread throughout the South and soon managed to bag a Senator and a few Representatives. The Constitution Party advocated not only White supremacy but anti-Catholicism, anti-Atheism and hate of immigrants. The Constitution Party is starting to create problems for the Democratic-Republicans as they are starting to lose some radical right wingers in the party.
On the flip side a single issue party, the Rational Party, was born shortly after the 2008 Presidential Elections. It was made of militant Atheists who viewed religion as the root of evil in the world and that it should be put to death with the sword. Thus far it has managed to gain some success in statewide elections in New England.
Both the Constitution and Rational parties may soon face exclusion from the government due to discriminatory policies.
