The United States of America is a country in North America. The U.S. is the third largest country in the world, competing with Britain as the most powerful country, easily surpassing Germany and Russia.

Although the United States never declared war on Germany and the Axis, the U.S. was not a passive actor in the Cold War, being the main defender of liberal principles in Latin America.
