The United States of America is a prosperous country with a great industrial and service sectors. The USA processes most of the food produced by the United Nations, and has the most important bank system in North America, and possibly the World.

History

The July 22, 1776, representatives of 13 English colonies in North America signed a declaration of independence.

Following this declaration, they fought a war against the United Kingdom. The colonies were helped by France and Spain against the British and in 1783, in the second treaty of Paris, Britain recognized the independence of the 13 states, organized as the United States of America, and including some territories.

A weaker union than OTL, the states fought themselves for control on the unorganized territories. These United States were also slightly smaller, as the Transylvania territories (between the Appalachians and the Mississippi, South of Ohio River) remained loyal to the United Kingdom.

In 1800, the United States declared war against Spain and lost, having to repair some damage to Spain, but their territorial integrity was preserved.

... At least to 1807.

In 1805, a series of incidents in the Northwestern Territories involving Pennsylvanian and Virginian militias, proved that the federal administration of the territories was very weak. By 1806, Pennsylvania and Virginia were involved in a war to the horror of all other states and the government in Philadelphia.

This War soon extended to other states. People in the maritime cities in New England were particularly worried by the protectionist policies of the central government and their failure to protect US merchant shipments in the global seas. New England, was particularly worried by the predominace of Virginia in the federal government and soon allied with Pennsylvania.

The war was over in November 1807, and an agreement was reached: The Susquehanna River would mark the limits between the Virginia dominated United States and the new New England Confederation. The territories of Pittsburgh and Buffalo was consolidated as the State of Erie.

The USA had, then, eight states (Ga, SC, NC, Va, De, Md, NJ, and Er), the capital had to be relocated, and Richmond was chosen.

In 1808, Ohio was admitted as state. Indiana followed in 1820. Washington in 1834 (OTL Illinois), and Jefferson (OTL Wisconsin) and Minnesota (OTL southern Minnesota), in 1866.

In 1876, in the centennial celebration, the United States passed a law to phase out slavery and then complete the task of our forefathers. By this date, New Jersey, Erie, Indiana, Michigan, Washington, and Jefferson had already forbidden slavery in their territories, as well as several counties in Ohio and Virginia. From July 22th, 1876, all newborn should be free and any slave owner would receive a compensation to any slave freed. By July 22th, 1901, everybody living in the United States of America, would be free.

Since the war of 1863 against Canada, Louisiana, and the United Kingdom, the United States of America has not been involved in international conflicts, keeping a neutrality policy. The U. S. of A. still has the fifth largest navy in the world, just behind Great Britain, New England, Japan and Spain.

Geography

The United States of America is divided in three main geographical regions: the Atlantic plains, the Appalachian mountains, and the lake planices.

While the lake planices are the most industrial region, and the Appalachian and the Atlantic plains are more agricultural, there are not sharp contrasts in the USA. There are also several industries and service sector corporations in the Delaware and Chesapeake areas. Atlanta, in Georgia, is the see of several industries of world recognition, including the second most active industries in entretainment after Bombay (the first in selling entertainment to other nations).
