[edit] History

[edit] World War II

After the fall of Britain, America tried to remain neutral, and remained so until February 7th, 1943, when Japan invaded Hawaii and destroyed the United States Pacific Fleet. American troops fought the Japanese in Australia and New Zealand, but couldn't hold the irresistable Japanese blitzkrieg. The fire-bombing raids on San Fransisco on July 6, 1945, by Japanese bombers and the nuking of New York by Germany on March 4, 1946, convinced America the war was unwinnable, and the Treaty of Tokyo was signed on Hitler's birthday, 20th April 1946. AS a result of Hawaii being Japanese, Puerto Rico took its place as the 50th state.

[edit] Recovery

America had been hit hard financially by the war, and spent the next few years in a massive slump. Many feared a new Great Depression, but the recession did not quite get that far.

[edit] A New World Power

With the successful test of the hydrogen bomb in 1957, America now had a weapon the Germans and Japanese didn't, and this was a great morale booster for the American population.

[edit] The Rumsfeld years

Donald Rumsfeld was elected president in 1968. His legacy would be regarded by historians as a mixed one. On one hand, he accelerated the space program, but on the other, he supplied insurgents in Axis held territory and practically made Al-Qaeda into one of the most powerful terrorist organizations.

[edit] Disillusionment

[edit] Detente

donald Rumsfield tragically died on August 20 1983. by now, the Berlin-Tokyo Axis had finally collapsed.

When Al Gore came to power in the 1996 elections, he began a programme of alternative energy research, including more use of nuclear fuel and renewable energy sources (such as wind farms, geothermal plants and solar panels). Because of this, many scientists are in consensus that the USA is best equipped to survive Peak Oil

America provided support to the loyalist forces during the German Civil War, especially after the rebels fired a Nuclear missile at New York, in an attempt to destroy the whole reich.
