The United States presidential election of 1984 was the 50th quadrennial presidential election, held on Tuesday, November 6, 1984. Democratic nominee Gary Hart defeated Vice President Richard Schweiker in a massive landslide.
Hart won 49 out of 50 states, only the second candidate to ever do so, after Richard Nixon in 1968. This election also saw the election of the first female Vice President, in California Senator Dianne Feinstein.
