The United States presidential election of 1980 was the 49th quadrennial presidential election, held on Tuesday, November 4, 1980. Incumbent Ronald Reagan, the Republican nominee was successfully re-elected against Ted Kennedy, the Democratic nominee.

Reagan's re-election was assured through most of the campaign, despite the strength of the Democratic nominee.
