|United States presidential election, 1960|
|November 8, 1960|
|Nominee||Earl Warren||Adlai Stevenson|
|Running mate||Robert Taft||Stuart Symington|
The United States presidential election of 1960 was the 44th quadrennial presidential election, held on Tuesday, November 8, 1960. Incumbent Earl Warren, the Republican nominee, defeated Adlai Stevenson, the Democratic nominee, in an extremely close election.
After its landslide victory in 1956, the Warren Administration immediately began hitting hurdles, with an unpopular war in Korea and an unpopular campaign by Senator Joseph McCarthy at home, a campaign openly supported by Vice President Taft. Warren was only narrowly re-elected, with some observers raising the question of voter fraud.
