The United States of America, also known as the US, USA, America, or the United States, is a large country. 48 contiuguous states lie in North America, and they are two overseas states and numerous territories and commonwealths. It is bordered by Canada to the north and Mexico to the south. Washington DC is the capital and New York City is the largest city. Other major cities include Chicago, Los Angeles, Seattle, and Boston.
The United States has the world's largest economy, and is the world's only superpower after the fall of Communist China in 2002. It is also one of the largest countries in the world. Founded in 1776 by the Declaration of Independence, the United States grew. Setting up an alliance with Mexico and Canadian independence allowed the United States to reach the coast faster, and the Pacific was conquered by the Americans.
The United States is one of the most diverse nations in the planet, and is a member of many international organizations, such as the Free World Alliance. It is a leading power in culture, economy, and politics in the world.
