Umberto II

Umberto II was King of Italy.

He was born on 15 September 1904 in Racconigi, Piedmont, Italy, son of King Victor Emanuel III of Italy and his wife, Princess Helen of Montenegro.

He became King of Italy upon the death of his father on 28 December 1947, and reigned for the rest of his life. He died on 18 March 1983 in Naples, Italy.

He married on 8 January 1930 in Rome, Italy to Princess Mary José of Belgium (1906-2001), daughter of King Albert I of the Belgians and his wife, Duchess Elizabeth of Bavaria. King Umberto II and Queen Mary José remained married for the rest of his life, but they separated in 1947. They had the following issue:
