The Ukraine (Russian: Украина, Ukraina; Ukrainian: Україна, Ukrayina), officially known as the Republic of Ukraine, is a republic of the Soviet Union. The Ukraine is one of the founding members of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics in 1922, and one of the nine republics to draft the New Union Treaty in 1991.
