The Turkish Republic of Pontus (Turkish: Pontus Türk Cumhuriyeti) was established as a Turkish entity and adversary to the remains of the Ottoman Empire in Anatolia. In its brief life it provided for the necessary diplomatic and military existence of the Turkish nationalist movement.
On the proclamation of the Republic of Turkey, it voted out its existence and was united with Turkey.
The government of Pontus was assigned to an Executive Board named by the Grand National Assembly (GNA), along a Legislative Commission integrated by deputies of the GNA. The main state bodies were the Postal and Telegraph Serivces, Customs Service and Police, National Mint, Treasury, and the National Bank.
