The Treaty of Montreal (French: le Traité de Montréal) was the peace treaty that ended the Quebec Revolutionary War. It officially gave independence to the British colony of Lower Canada as Quebec.
Terms of the treaty
- Full independence of Quebec as a semi-presidential republic.
- Establishment of French as the official language of Quebec.
- The border of Maine is extended.
- The British would be granted access to the St. Lawrence River.
