This is a timeline of major events in The Viscount Has Fallen.
- August 1 - The French achieve a decisive naval victory over the British at the Battle of Aboukir Bay. During the battle, Rear-Admiral Horatio Nelson is killed when his flagship, the HMS Vanguard, explodes after its magazine is struck by a cannonball from an unknown vessel.
- August 21 - The Treaty of Damascus is signed between France and the Ottoman Empire, resulting in the latter's withdrawal from the Second Coalition and acknowledgement of French control over Egypt.
- September 12 - Two commissioned French warships chase an American merchant vessel into New York Harbor, where they are engaged by two American warships - the USS Constellation and USS Constitution - and a cutter from the United States Revenue Cutter Service.
- September 15 - In response to the Battle of New York Harbor, President John Adams addresses a special session of Congress, requesting that they approve a declaration of war upon France. The declaration is immediately put to vote, in which it receives a vast majority in both the Senate and the House of Representatives. The Franco-American War begins.
