This is the Timeline for Death of an Empire

1899-1920 A World of Difference

September 1899: Queen Victoria is assassinated by a Communist loyalist, tensions flair in the Empire.

January 1900: Protests start up in England after the assassination causes some of the dominions to revolt due to the loss of a Monarch.

February 1900: The government trace the assassin's motives to Ireland in anti-monarchy group affiliated with the Communist Party in Russia. Tensions with Russia are already at an all-time high. Ireland gets blamed for giving the weapons to the Russians causing some anti-Irish stigma that lasts for years.

April 1900: Germany and Russia build up military strength.

July 1905: Due to the Anti-Irish stigma the government separates itself from the UK as an independent nation.

The British Remnants are formed out of England, Wales and Scotland and other remaining Commonwealth nations

Zulu tribes and the British colonists form a truce to protect them from neighbouring tribes.

August 1905: South Africa declares independence but is not recognized until 1929

January 1906: The 2nd English Civil War erupts in England with Canadian and South African diplomats being recalled to their home countries as the fight escalates.

Jan-Feb 1906: English Prime Minister Henry Campbell-Bannerman was assassinated by pro-revolution loyalists.

March 1906: The Royal family escapes to Balmoral Castle as Buckingham is raided.

King Edward VII is fatally wounded when his horse; frightened by gunfire bucks him off and breaks his neck. He is later buried at Westminster Abbey.

1907: The 2nd English Civil War is over with 750,000 civilians dead.

The Royal Family is reinstated as rulers over the Commonwealth with George V crowned a month later and Herbert Henry Asquith is elected Prime Minister.

January 1909: Australia goes through political reforms to change Prime Minister to Chancellor.

Chancellor Andrew Fisher is elected the first Chancellor a week later running for 2 terms.

April 1910: Peace is restored across the now deceased British Empire with only the Remnant controlled Pacific and Caribbean Islands and semi-independent India and New Zealand being the only non-European territory left.

April-March 1912: The American Union recognises the independence of its territory Alaska as a free nation.

March 1912: Denmark cedes a portion of Greenland to the Canadians and a smaller portion to the Icelandic’s

1913: The Austro-Hungarian Empire collapses due to internal conflicts and the death of its Archduke

1914: Now independent Austria and Hungary seek out help from Germany and the Italy with reforming their militaries and respective governments.

Germany gains access to tank designs and starts building armoured vehicles

1914: Australia gains full independence from the Empire

March 1914: Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Iceland and a newly independent Finland form the Consortium of Nordic Countries (also known as the Nordic Union or Nordic Alliances) Estonia joins in 1921 after a public referendum.

April 1914: Alaska holds its first election after a provisional government was disbanded. Governor Jean Mitchell, leader of the Free Alaska Party is sworn in as president with Anchorage as the capital.  

May 1914: Japan forms a treaty with Alaska and Russia, forming the Treaty of the Bering Strait, with Russian and Japanese communities popping up in Anchorage and other cities.

The British Remnant is now a minor power with Russia and France stepping in to fill the power vacuum. But Germany wishes to seize all the power.

June 1914: The Elections in The American Union are held, with Theodore Roosevelt winning by a 5% difference.

June/July 1914: Germany cedes a small portion of the north to Denmark; German elections are a success for the newly formed Socialist Party led by Rudolph Hess, (OTL Hitler’s adjutant) His charisma helped sway the other politicians his way.

July 1914: Alexandre Ribot is elected the first President of the Fourth French Republic after political instability.

December/January 1914/5: The British Remnant tests the first combat worthy aircraft at a makeshift runway in Aberdeen.

January 1915: The Remnant and France finally form an alliance sharing their arsenal of aircraft and sell the designs to other nations.

April 1915: Roosevelt is diagnosed with a large blood clot in his brain, he's told it's inoperable and he'd survive until the end of his term as President. 

August 1915: Political tensions heat up in South Africa due to the introduction of curfews in Johannesburg because of delinquents destroying property and stealing museum artefacts

September 1915: French is declared the second language in Canada and is taught in schools across the country

December 1915: Nicholas II, the former Czar of Russia, dies from a heart attack in his sleep, a state funeral is held on New Year’s Day

January 1916: Brazil annexes Bolivia after their government is deemed 'unstable' and Brazilian troops are sent in.

March 1916: Bolivia is now Brazilian territory

January 1917: The British Remnants are now stable after years of political issues and power vacuums.

July 1917: The Ottoman Empire breaks up due to a lack of an heir.

July 1918: The world is as peace after years of power struggles and civil wars with thousands dead the world enters a age of peace, for now....

August 1918: Roosevelt dies weeks later after leaving the White House and a public memorial is held.

January 1919: Sydney is set ablaze by pro republican terrorists. A massive rebuilding project is started by the government and local council.

August 1919: Australian elects Frank Tudor as Chancellor

1920-1935 War on the horizon...

1920: Science fiction novels and comics becomes popular, showing the world of tomorrow to an excited public

1933: Hitler is elected as Chancellor of Germany.
