The most dramatic turning point of the timeline is the election of Hubert Humphrey in 1968. America became the worlds most prospering democracy, gaining influence around the world. The height of the Cold War was slowly ending. The US achieved two major events under Humphrey. The Treaty of Saigon permanently divided Vietnam but preserving peace and Auspolitik (OTL: Detente) which ended the Cold War, and allowed both nations to prosper and Communism to survive. Today, the US President is Barack Obama, and the Soviet Union is ruled by Mikhail Gorbachev. These nations have the job of preserving peace and the safety of the world.
