This article is about what would happen if Maine Governor Angus King had not retired from politics after his second term as governor ended in 2002, and instead ran for senate, defeating incumbent Olympia Snowe.

For those of you who don't know, Governor King was one of the most popular governors in the history of Maine, and help create the strong center in the state. He was the first governor since 1982 to be elected with more than 50 percent of the vote, (the Maine gubernatorial election of 1998) and the last since. In OTL, he is now a professor at Bowdoin College. However, in this timeline, he becomes a United States Senator. This is going to contain a lot of local politicians, and I'll try to create pages on all of them so you have background info.
