The Oirats were one of the forest peoples who lived in west of the Mongols of Genghis Khan. They submitted to Genghis in 1207 and played prominent roles in the history of the Mongol Empire.

After the overthrow of the Yuan Dynasty , Möngke-Temür, a high official of the Yuan, had placed himself at the head of the Oirats. When he died, three chieftains, Mahamu, Taiping and Batu-bolad, ruled them. They sent envoys with gifts to the Ming Dynasty. In 1409, Yongle Emperor  bestowed upon them the title of wang in return. The Oirats began to challenge the Borjigin Emperors in the reign of Elbeg Khan and in 1399 killed Elbeg Khan. His son, Gun, succeeded him.

1400-1500[]

Gun Temur Khan ruled for two years but was then killed by his younger brother. His younger brother, Orug Khan, succeeded the throne. Orug Khan began to see that the Four Oirats is no match for Ming China and thus, proclaimed that China has greater supremacy and sends a diplomat to China to give this claim. After the diplomat came back, he advised Orug into turning Four Oirats into a agricultural and centralized nation. Immediately, Orug agreed with him and started by constructing a capital city that is not a yurt settlement. They begin to build a capital in OTL Oskemen, named Oskemen. Orug Khan also builds a Khagan Guard and invited the other chiefs for a banquet. During the banquet, he screamed "For Oirat" and the guards murdered the other chiefs while other guards crushed the elite forces of the guards. Thus, the Four Oirat started its process of becoming a centralized state.
