Renaming the article[]

Since this isn't actually a single war, and the Grand Coalition is merely a part of the invading force, don't you think we ought to rename it to something more suitable?

Perhaps the Leopoldine Wars, since the Leopoldine Doctrine was instated after them, or the Grand Anti-Hispanic Wars (plural).

I figured the name suits since this was the main part of the war, while other parts of the war are co-belligerents (and can have their own specifying pages). Mscoree (talk) 15:07, January 6, 2015 (UTC)

Perhaps this should then be a part of the Campaign against Hispania, which would be the big page for all the wars that were fought? SkyGreen24(P,Q) 15:29, January 6, 2015 (UTC)

Revising[]

I think we need to rewrite some of this to make more sense. The war is supposed to last a decade and a half, after all, but as it reads now it sounds like Italy fell in about three years. Furthermore the Croatian/Roman invasion of Italy sounds less like a military campaign from this time period, and more like a World War 2 liberation, listing off Italy's "greatest hits". For comparison, during the War of the Spanish Succession it took three years pretty much just to invade Savoy, albeit France was engaged elsewhere; Rhineland and Iberian Peninsula to name two (although on the flip side of that, ATL we are also engaged in multiple fronts. Instead of France engaging in the Rhineland, you could make the argument that they're about as engaged in Spain). I'm not saying that we don't decisively defeat Spain, I'm just saying we need to take it a bit slower, and at the same time we need to write the combat sections to sound more like battles of this time period. Some of these sieges should be taking months for example, and various forces should be engaging in battles before hand. Mscoree (talk) 02:57, January 16, 2015 (UTC)

In all fairness I was planning for the Roman campaign in Italy, which was only the southern half up to Tuscany as you know, to last five years. At the end of the first year, which is what I have written so far, Rome has only a foothold and major Italian cities are still Spanish. I wasn't really expecting Lombardy to be invaded as soon as it was, though, which in my thought kinda does make the war seem shorter. "This is not your grave but you are welcome in it." 03:03, January 16, 2015 (UTC)

I don't intend to take Lombardy that easily, that was more the first phase. I figured the northern half wouldn't be taken fully until the sixth year of the war. Mscoree (talk) 03:19, January 16, 2015 (UTC)
