Talk:Tooth and Claw
From Alternative History
This is a book by Dougal Dixon imagining just what this TL is about, although I don't think he included Raptor evolving into creatures with Sapiens leval inteligence.

- Not a lot of people know this, but raptors actually had proportionatly larger brains than even chimps. There was a lot of brain power in those reptillian skulls (especially trodon). Thanks for the links too, by the way. --Sikulu 09:40, 16 September 2006 (UTC)
- Then again, if that were the best indicator for inteligence, Shrews would be dropping nukes on rebelious colonies in Alpha Centuri. From Wikipedia "Shrews hold nearly 10% of their mass in their brain, making it one of the most encephalized animals.". Brain-Body Mass ratios aren't allways the best way to detect intelligence--Italiamerican 21:02, 16 September 2006 (UTC)
- However, shrews have much smaller brains than raptors. So even if the brain is bigger that what it should be for an animal of a certain body size, there's not going to be too much of an improvement if there aren't that many neurons in the brain in the first place. --Sikulu 13:19, 18 September 2006 (UTC)
- Indeed.
- True. It seems like the brain needs to be a certain size to have the extra capacity to do anything besides manage basic bodily functions. After all, whales are considered some of the the most intelligent beings besides humans... Michael riber 18:09, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
- However, according to new research, it seems that dolphins and whales aren't as intelligent as previously assumed. In any case, the other great apes are more intelligent than them. Besides, eliphant brains are huge too, but you wouldn't have any problem outhinking them. --Sikulu 10:08, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
