I think the part about the Crown Prince needs clarifying. He's apparently Marc's son, but then he's the rightful heir, so why is he seizing the throne and why does Powys discount him from the equation? Diolch.Owain2 18:28, June 27, 2010 (UTC)

Hi Owain, yes I agree this section does need some extra clarification. It always works so well inside your head and then you put it to paper, lol. Basically with the build up of political camps Gruffud is isolated by the death of his father. Whilst Crown Prince and therefore de jure king upon the death of Marc he still needs to claim and basically seize the title and therefore is in a race with Powys who also has a claim to the throne as a male line ancestor of Owain Glyndwr. As Powys was the power behind Marc most of the political ties lay with him and not directly with either Marc or Gruffud and had Marc's reign continued Powys would have tried to pull off a palace coup.

But I agree the way it is written at present is confusing so I will have another look at it and edit accordingly as Powys most certainly does not discount him as he meets Gruffud in battle on the 9th Feb 1600 at Strata Florida where the Crown Prince dies which opens up the direct path to the crown as Powys at that point is the senior heir to the crown. Okay, that makes sense now. Diolch.Owain2 15:08, June 29, 2010 (UTC)
