I deleted my last comment because it was sarcastic and sets the wrong kind of tone. To the author: I can't know for sure how old you are, but I can guess. The teacher in me wants to encourage you to use your creative energy and is glad that you found this outlet, especially when your creativity involves history and politics. I'm glad you found our site and took an interest in what we do! But the teacher in me also wants to tell you to learn a little: get to know and understand some basic facts, or you'll not be able to improve this. Thoughtful conservatives are wary of left-ish policies because they fear they will lead to a stagnant economy, or because they find the idea of income redistribution to be fundamentally unfair. That's why they (some of them) toss around the word "socialist" - they want the economy and the markets to always be as free as possible, and fear that certain policies like bank reform and health care reform will restrict those markets. It's not because they think the Democrats are out to revive the Soviet Union! Have you ever met anyone in the US who talks lovingly about the USSR? No, you haven't, and if you have, theirs was a lonely voice indeed. This whole timeline shows a lot of ignorance about the US, socialism, Communism, and the way governments work; not to mention a certain amount of paranoia. It also goes against the spirit of "No Cross, No Crown", which was an unwritten rule here for a long time (before I wrote it down, just yesterday). Benkarnell 16:01, February 11, 2010 (UTC)
