I would note the term Ghana did not come into use until the 1950s. It was meant as the name for the medieval kingdom which was in Mauritania/Mali. Probably that wouldn't have been the British colonial name, but it seems weird for a country to name itself after another nearby country. That's just the feeling I'm getting.

Also, most "New XXXX" names seem to be named after someplace in Europe, like New Zealand, New York, New Britain, New Castile. But if you're assuming a revolution, I would suggest maybe a local name with nationalist connotations, not a name based on Europe. Maybe another African kingdom? Songhai? Oh jeez, that never even occoured to me. I only created the article based on the information I read in the timeline, but thank you for pointing that out. And New Songhai would be a much smarter name, especially if the timeline was rewritten to have the original Songhaians (I hope I'm saying that correctly) sail to the island. Thanks again! I'm thinking maybe even drop the "new" altogether. African countries' names aren't always geographically accurate. Like Ghana, for example, was in Mauritania and Mali, while Benin was in Nigeria. But do what you want lol. Detectivekenny (Info; Talk) 06:23, July 2, 2011 (UTC)
