There is no way that Gramm would win this. Heck, the Republicans, following such a Reagan debacle, would get absolutely clobbered. Lordganon (talk) 04:52, January 5, 2013 (UTC)

Oh really? The Reagan "debacle" won the Republicans three consecutive landslide elections in OTL (1980, 1984 in a massive landslide, 1988), so there is no question whatsoever that Gramm could have won here. Heck, the Democrats might have to adopt some Reaganism to avoid being broken up as a party.RepMiliratyHistorian (talk) 23:47, February 11, 2013 (UTC)

...Seriously? You failed to read your own timeline, which says that? If a president has to resign, that screws his successor.

Even more so, that post was so biased it's actually disturbing.

You're thinking of Nixon, who resigned in disgrace after the Watergate scandal. This one is different because Reagan did not resign because of a sandal, but because of declining health, which would not end up screwing Gramm like Ford was screwed. RepMiliratyHistorian (talk) 23:04, February 12, 2013 (UTC)

And also, I'm biased? You're the one calling the Reagan administration a "debacle." RepMiliratyHistorian (talk) 23:12, February 12, 2013 (UTC)

The man ran for the presidency, and won, while having Alzheimers. Then has to resign after it becoming obvious. Now, what does that say about the man who ran with him? He either took advantage of a old man, or hid Reagan's condition from the public - probably both. Three guesses how that goes. Heck, he'd probably get impeached for it.

And, it's obviously not Nixon. Doesn't take a genius to notice that one.

If you'd take off your rose-colored glasses and drop your own bias, you'd see that I obviously meant him resigning. It's very clear.

I won't argue the tired subject of the Alzheimer's anymore, I will just say that someone with Alzheimer's disease could not deliver powerful speeches and win the presidency, like Reagan did. If he had the disease when you said he did, he would have been ousted in the primaries. And I wasn't saying that this was Nixon, I was just saying that you were using the example of Nixon as a president resigning and screwing his successor.
