Not only would Reagan lose had he tried this, but there is no question whatsoever that his disease was out there and severely effecting him by this point. He could not have physically ran. Lordganon (talk) 11:07, January 4, 2013 (UTC)

Reagan did not get the disease until 1994, but yes, he does resign a year after the election. Even if Reagan did have the disease, if Roosevelt could win a fourth term with polio, there is no question that Reagan could have won a fourth term with Alzheimer's. he did not have the disease in 1992, however. RepMiliratyHistorian (talk) 23:42, February 11, 2013 (UTC)

Wrong. He had it long before 1994. Lordganon (talk) 03:24, February 12, 2013 (UTC)

Proof?  RepMiliratyHistorian (talk) 23:01, February 12, 2013 (UTC)

And if so, when did he get it? Probably after 1980, as he won that election in a massive landslide in OTL. But that would be according to your (incorrect) facts.

I know your proof... the news media. RepMiliratyHistorian (talk) 23:59, February 12, 2013 (UTC)

Not even close to the truth. And bothering to look at simple facts would tell you that. Lordganon (talk) 11:18, February 13, 2013 (UTC)

I won't argue this tired subject anymore, I will just say that Roosevelt won a fourth term with polio (which he'd had for his entire presidency and concealed from the public) and Reagan had won two elections (three in this ATL), so there is no doubt he could have run for a fourth term. Roosevelt was really sick when he ran in 1944, but he still won, even though he died the next year. RepMiliratyHistorian (talk) 12:18, February 13, 2013 (UTC)

And, according to your "facts," when did he get it? You didn't answer that one. RepMiliratyHistorian (talk) 12:19, February 13, 2013 (UTC)

Even if Reagan got the disease before 1994, that was when he was diagnosed. And even if there is evdience before then, it is not official until he is diagnosed (after he leaves office in this ATL). His doctor and wife convince him to resign in this ATL because of declining health. It will not cause a big public scandal. RepMiliratyHistorian (talk) 12:39, February 13, 2013 (UTC)

...You do realize that no campaigning was involved, whatsoever, with getting the presidency in Roosevelt's era? The man never left home. And he hid it. Reagan? Nothing of the sort. Not did anyone know Roosevelt was sick outside of his staff and cabinet.

...Seriously? Alzheimer's isn't something you "get." It's a condition you have from day one, that manifests in old age. Again, common knowledge. I have to question if you know anything about the disease, quite frankly.

If the man is in office, he would be tested long before that. Heck, the man publicly stated that how many times? There's an extensive record on this, for pete's sake.

And, if you ever leave a note on a page like the the one you left on the Mondale timeline ever again, you're getting banned. Not only did that violate our rules on discussing politics and religion, but it was also simply offensive.
