[edit] Anglo-Chinese Naval Conflict

The history says that England had a superior navy to China. This far from true. At the time, the Chinese had the best navy in the world

Well, I didn't know that. But before I change it, I must know whether they would STILL have had such a navy if they had poured such resources into the ballistics technology? Also, after a little bit of research I have found that the Chinese did not see a navy as an important military force, but as more of an adjunct. If this information is faulty (as wikipedia sometimes is), please point it out. And in any case, I've found that its naval technology was ahead, but what about numbers? The encroachment of the Chinese forces reached France just after the peak of the royal navy's power, with around 700 ships.Tsochar 05:11, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

China may have also not have many ships in the Atlantic regions since most of their ship building was probably still in China, and a direct navigational route may have yet to be found. --C II R 15:21, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

How did the Chinese manage to create and hold such a large empire? Eventually the requirements of controlling such a large area would have required more soldiers and rockets than could be built just in China. How did they create rockets factories in other nations without allowing discovery? --User:RandomNerd 14:19, 5 Aug 2007

It is hard to imagine China as an imperialist, because throughout its history, it was content in developing their own homeland rather than exploiting other lands. Even China itself has trouble keeping its own huge homeland unified throughout its history, so even if they have the motivation to invade the whole world, they are probably not interested in keeping them: 合久必分 分久必合. In this ATL, most likely, China would consolidate its influence in Asia and protect it from the European empires when they do their scramble for colonies in the OTL. The result would be a power East and Southeast Asia free of European imperialism, but all under Chinese influence. A Chinese "empire" would flourish on trade instead of exploitation.
