Sports in the Kingdom of Cleveland

Football

In 2000 Prime Minister Mallon announces the formation of a football league in Cleveland, to be know as the CFA (Cleveland Football Association). There will be two divisions with five teams in each.

Points will be appointed as follows:

  • 3 points for a win.
  • 1 point for each team for a draw.
  • 0 points for a loss.

The champion of the 2nd division will be promoted to the 1st division, the lowest points scoring team from the 1st division will be relegated to the 2nd division.

In 2001 the teams are as follows:

First Division

  • Hartlepool FC
  • Middlesbrough FC
  • Ironopolis FC
  • Norton and Stockton Ancients

Second Division

  • Dormanstown FC
  • Crook FC
  • Guisborough Town FC
  • Billingham FC
  • Saltburn FC

RESULTS

  • 2001/02 season - Middlesbrough FC were crowned champions
  • 2002/03 season - Middlesbrough FC were crowned champions
  • 2003/04 season - Darlington FC were crowned champions
  • 2004/05 season - Darlington FC were crowned champions
  • 2005/06 season - Darlington FC were crowned champions
  • 2006/07 season - Hartlepool FC were crowned champions
  • 2007/08 season - Middlesbrough FC were crowned champions
  • 2008/09 season - Middlesbrough FC were crowned champions
  • 2009/10 season - Guisborough Town FC were crowned champions
  • 2010/11 season - Ironopolis FC were crowned champions

In 2005 PM Mallon announces that a new CFA cup will be played from the 2006 season. All teams, from all leagues will be able to play.

  • 2006 CFA cup winner - Ironopolis FC
  • 2007 CFA cup winner - Middlesbrough FC
  • 2008 CFA cup winner - Middlesbrough FC
  • 2009 CFA cup winner - Middlesbrough FC
  • 2010 CFA cup winner - Norton and Stockton Ancients.
  • 2011 CFA cup winner - Middlesbrough FC

With the inclusion of the NRCO territories in 2005, the CFA has announced that from 2010 there will be a third division formed. This will have five teams from the former NRCO territories.

Champion of the 3rd division will be promoted to the 2nd division, lowest points scorer from the 2nd division wil be relegated to the 3rd division.

Teams will be as follows:

Third Division

  • Tadcaster United FC
  • Kirby Stephen FC
  • Appleby FC
  • Hawes FC
  • Weatherby FC

2010 FIFA World Cup 2009 the CFA announces that there will be a national team formed for the FIFA World cup to be played in the Celtic Alliance in 2010. Players can be selected from any team in all three leagues.

The Cleveland manager has been named as Sir Brian Clough current manager of Middlesbrough FC.

The draw took place in Dublin on December 4th.

The Kingdom of Cleveland are drawn in group C along with:

  • Brazil,
  • USSR (aka Siberia),
  • New Britain.


The Kingdom of Cleveland got to the Quarter finals losing to ANZC 3 - 1

Football News

The leader of the Cleveland Football Association has announced that in January 2011 five teams from the Kingdom of Northumbria will join the CFA league. At the same time the three existing divisions will be combined into two divisions with the Northumbrian teams joining as a 3rd division in a similar way the the NRCO teams joined in 2005.

This means that at the end of the 2010/11 season there will be no relegation from any leagues and the top four teams from the second division will become part of the 1st divsion and all the teams of the current 3rd division will become part of the new second division

The five teams from the Kingdom of Northumbria are:

  • Alnwick town AFC
  • Bamburgh Castle FC
  • Rothbury FC
  • Hexham FC
  • Berwick Town FC

After the vote in the former territory of Rheged one more team has been added to the Northumbria list this being:

  • Carlisle United.

In March 2011 the CFA announces that with the inclusion of East Yorkshire into the Kingdom of Cleveland five more teams will be included into the CFA league. These being:

  • Pocklington FC
  • Bridlington United
  • AFC Beverley Town
  • Driffield FC
  • Withernsea FC

it is likely that they will form a new fourth tier in the league.

Cricket

In 2008 a new Cricket league was set up jointly by the Kingdom of Cleveland and Kingdom of Northumbria

the teams are:

  • Southern Northumbria
  • Northern Northumbria
  • East Cleveland
  • West Cleveland
  • Southern Cleveland
  • Northern Cleveland

Tennis

In 2009, the Darlington Lawn Tennis Club was established, A small-scale recreation of the famous Wimbleden Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club, it is a members-only club which is open from April through September. Beginning in 2012, an annual tournament will be held during the period of the old Wimbleden tournament. The tournament will be open to players from Cleveland, Northumbia, the Celtic Alliance and other European survivor states.

Rugby

Rugby was before doomsday separated into two types,

  • Rugby Union - played with 15 team members
  • Rugby League - played with 13 team members

Although not as popular as football several teams have continued since before doomsday.
