879 AD: Granerick declares that the Orthodox Church in Spain is now separate from the main Orthodox Church in Constantinople. It is a Parthian Shot against the Greco-Roman Empire.
880: Constans I dies of a heart attack and is succeeded by his son Constans II. He mounts an amphibious operation against Granerick to try to restore the united Orthodox Church. However, it becomes bogged down and 10,000 Greco-Romans from Legions X and XII are killed.
