The Schwerer Sturmgewehr 40 otherwise known as the SSG-40, later known as the Schwerer Gewehr 40 or SG-40.The SSG-40 was a semi-automatic rifle used by the Wehrmacht during the 1940s.


The SSG-40 began as a design the Nazi High command who needed a heavy rifle for use by the German Schutzstaffel.
