Samuel Teliaferro Rayburn (January 6, 1882 – August 17, 1945) was a Confederate politician who served as the leader of the Nationalist Party and the 13th President of the Confederate States from 1934 to 1944. As President, he initiated a series of public works and sought revenge for the Confederacy's defeat during World War I; eventually bringing the nation into World War II and ending with utter defeat.
