Run The World was a sponsored fun run for charity organised by John Lennon and Midge Ure on 25th May, 1986 as a response to the Ethiopian Famine. It was named after a single by the New Wave band Graduate, which had been released in summer 1984. It was the last definite event associated with the musical charity response to the famine, and also marked the first mass marketing of Plain White style clothing, which were sold to raise money for the charity effort.
