The Socialist Republic of Romania (RSR; Romanian: Republica Socialistă România) is a Marxist-Leninist single-party state in Southeast Europe, bordering the Black Sea, Bulgaria, Yugoslavia, Hungary, Ukraine, and Moldova which Romania claims as its sovereign territory. With 27.4 million inhabitants, it is the third most populous state within the Comintern and the capital and largest city is Bucharest with 2.2 million residents.
