Roman Polanski (born August 18, 1933) is a French-born Polish film director, who currently lives and works in the United States. His 2005 neo-noir, Sins won the Academy Awards for Best Picture, and Best Director.

Polanski was married to actress Sharon Tate between 1968 and 1981. They have two children, director/producer Paul Polanski (b. 1969) and fashion designer/businesswoman Natalie Polanski (b. 1972).
