The established church descending from that of St. Peter, the Roman Catholic (or simply, the Roman) Church was the dominant religion in Europe before Arcism was founded. After that it was hurt by Arcist France's mere presence, but there no crusade called until France took over Aragon, and even that ended in a draw.
