The Riograndense Republic, also known as the Piratini Republic was a de-facto state that existed between September 11, 1835 and September 24, 1847. The republic geographically coincided with the present state of Rio Grande Do Sul in the Empire of Brazil. Although it was never recognized as a independent and sovereign nation, the Republic did vote for a Constitution, known as the Constitution of 1844.

The Republic's independence was proclaimed by Antonio de Souza Neto, who assigned Bento Gonçalves da Silva as President during the War of the Ferrapos and remained President until the nations collapse in the Second Riograndense War.
