Richard Milhous Nixon (January 9th, 1913-April 14th, 1972) was the 37th President of the United States from 1969-1972 as a member of the Republican Party. He was previously the 36th Vice President of the United States during the presidency of Dwight D. Eisenhower from 1953-1961. Nixon was the 9th President to die in office and the 5th to be assassinated. He served 2 terms as a member of the House of Representatives from California from January 2nd, 1947-December 1st, 1950. He also part of a single term as a Senator from California from December 1st, 1950-January 1st, 1953. Nixon is generally regarded by historians from the Populist Party and the Republican Party as one of the greatest presidents of all time, but is regarded as one of the worst of all time by historians from the Democratic Party and the Libertarian Party, reflecting the fact that he was a highly polarizing figure as well during his lifetime.
