Richard Milhous Nixon (January 9, 1913 – August 12, 1996) was an American politician who served as the 36th Vice President of the United States from 1953 until 1961. He had previously served as a U.S. Representative and Senator from California. In 1960 and 1968, Nixon was the Republican nominee for President of the United States.
