Previous Prime Minister
The 1968 Rhodesia Nyasaland general election resulted in a second large majority for the Rhodesia Front.
Whilst the United Federal Party made a net gain of 11 seats, only one of these gains was made against the Rhodesia Front, the rest were the capturing of new seats, the UFP suffered further setbacks with party leader Roy Welensky failing to reenter the Assembly by gaining the seat of Arundel, where he was defeated by a narrow margin, prompting Welensky to resign as party leader.
