History[]
Texas is a small republic located in North America and is bordered by the United States of America and Mexico. The nation is commonly known as 'The Switzerland of the Americas' due to its neutrality during the Cold War. The nation gained its independence from the Mexico along with its fellow Anglo-Hispanic nation California. Backed by the British, the Texans and Californians won their independence and eventually fell into their sphere of influence and was used as a bulwark to American expansionism as Texas and California slowly flourished under British influence. Both nations eventually left the British sphere in the late 1860s as semi-industrialised, self-sustaining Republics who wanted to remain neutral in the new Cold War that began a decade later...
The Republic of Texas has flourished under many traditionally conservative politicians as the oil industry caused a huge economic and immigration boon during the 1870s to the 1920s when the post-Balkan Wars economy started to slow economic growth, although Texas wasn't as affected due to their oil and agricultural industries.
Texas eventually joined the Non-Aligned Movement in the 1950s. eventually becoming one of the more well-known members beside Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Arabia. The famous political dynasty of the Bush family started to show their influence in the 1940s as Prescott Bush began to invest in the oil industry, he eventually fathered a George H W Bush, who is one of the most famous of Texan Presidents, possibly more famous than his son, George W Bush, who also became President of Texas in 2000.
