Republic City, somtimes referred to as Gonghecheng (derived from its Chinese name) is the capital city of the United Republic of Tiangong and the largest city in the world, with a population of 39,012,452. It is also the largest city in the world by total area, and the highest GDP per capita for a city (€89,752/capita).
Republic City was founded in the 14th century by Chinese settlers, who named it Tiangong. The city grew into a bustling metropolis and by 1802, was one of the largest cities in Asia. In 1802, it became the capital of the United Republic.
Republic City is commonly called "capital of the world" and is home to the headquarters of dozens of organizations, such as the United Nations. Republic City hosted the 2016 Summer Olympics.
